The Lincoln Continental is one of the most important American luxury cars ever built. Major generations: the 1939–1948 Continental V12 (the original Edsel Ford-designed personal-luxury car), the 1956–1957 Continental Mark II (a hand-built halo car), the 1961–1969 Continental with its iconic suicide-door coupe and convertible styling, and the 1970–1980 Continentals. The 1961–1969 cars are particularly iconic.
