Marathon

The Checker Marathon (1959–1982) was the civilian, retail-sold version of the famous Checker taxi — a tall, square, body-on-frame sedan and wagon assembled in Kalamazoo, Michigan, with styling that barely changed across more than two decades. Marathons used off-the-shelf Chevrolet engines and transmissions, making service unusually accessible.
